New Winnipeg Web Hosting is owned fully by New Winnipeg Media, a privately and independently owned Internet Service Provider based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We are proud members of the Winnipeg Community Business Development Association
and the Winnipeg Chamber
of Commerce. We have preserved a clean
customer record and recently have grown to be Manitoba's third largest webhosting company.
Our Services
Metaphorically speaking, our web hosting
service is comparable to renting an apartment. We own
several servers (apartment buildings) and within these
buildings are several suites (web
hosting packages) in which people pay either monthly
or prepay for longer contracts.
A website resides in our server (building)
and all maintenance - such as ensuring the lights stay on
(server uptime) and the water keeps flowing (email) in and
out of your apartment - is our responsibility as the landlord.

We also offer our own web
site builder tool that can allow even the beginner to
easily manage their web site.
However we do not manage websites or perform manual updates
to web site. Many of our clients do this, so please contact

Using the same analogy, domain
names are similar to having a phone number that directs
people to your site. But you don't need to register your domain
name with us to have a web hosting account with us, but we

Our
servers are custom-built Dell machines designed for
a demanding 24/7 web-serving environment. All of our servers
are equipped with dual redundant 450-watt power supplies,
hot swap Fujitsu drives and force-filtered cooling systems.
We back up our servers nightly and retain
our backup tapes for up to two months, using a Dell PowerVault
136T, LTO-2 tape library. We also employ multiple automatic
transfer switches (ATS) and Industrial Grade Cooling. And
even if the electricity fails, we utilize a 300 kVW Genrac
diesel back up generator to ensure our servers stay on even
when the lights don't.
Fast & Dedicated Network
We are connected
to a direct fibre-optic connection with AT&T and Level
3's OC48 connection, and Cogent's 1000mbps (Gigabit Ethernet)
connection. These tier one providers service such giants
as Yahoo ® and MySpace ®.
This means that even if one of these world-class
lines fails, there is always another backbone to rely on -
ensuring that your Website never goes down. Go

We rely on
the Cogent GigE (Gigabit Ethernet) network connection
- GigE is running at 1000mbs compared to OC3 at 155mbs or
OC12 at 622mbs. This network is linked to over 30 markets
across Canada and the United States. Cogent's facilities-based
all-optical end-to-end IP network enables 100 Mbps connectivity,
a rate that is about 100 times faster than observed T1 capacity
(or 65 times faster than the published rate of 1.544 Mbps).
All routers are deployed in a redundant configuration
with fully redundant power supplies and route switch processors.
They're equipped with battery backup equipment and emergency
generators. In fact, the architecture enables immediate rerouting
around outages for almost instantaneous service restoration.
The MIS Access Redundancy Options optimize the performance
of multiple, dedicated Internet circuits while eliminating
single points of failure in the access circuits and routers.
